Life before Gustavus
Throughout high school I enjoyed being very involved in numerous activities, including, SAD, STAR, Lutheran Youth Organization, TEC, Peer Helpers, band, choir and pops choir. I enjoyed meeting new people where ever I went, and had a love for laughing!
Why did you choose Gustavus?
Gustavus felt like home from the first time I stepped foot on the campus. It had a warm, welcoming and exciting feeling. I felt as though this was a place that I could adventure out into to grow as a person through learning new things, experiencing new people and events.
Life at Gustavus
I sing in the Lucia Singers choir, and love singing for Trish Snapp. I am also involved in Proclaim here at Gustavus, where I lead the contemporary worship service. I have been involved in that since my freshman year. I am also a chapel apprentice, and a youth assistant in the Religion Department. I am a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and enjoy the ladies that I have come to know throughout that organization. I enjoy being a student and learning new things, and I find that the various organizations I am apart of on campus help me to meet other people and develop a greater understanding for what Gustavus and its students has to offer.
What has been your favorite academic experience?
I have enjoyed taking religion classes and learning more about my faith as well as the foundation to which my faith comes from. I would say my favorite class was Luther and His Legacy.
What is your favorite food in the Market Place?
My favorite food would be homemade bread- a kind that isn’t typical, since I am a celiac (no wheat/gluten) and allergic to milk... but its yummy!!
How do you interact with your professors outside the classroom?
I enjoy talking with professors outside of the classroom and do so mostly through office hours, and my interaction with them through Theta Alpha Kappa religion honors society, and assistant in the Religion department.
What is your dream job?
To be an ordained youth and family Pastor!!
What advice would you give a prospective Gustie?
Be excited about learning and all the new adventures that come with this season of life. Ask questions from your professors, or other students... don’t be afraid to try, that is what this learning experience is all about, and there are so many people out there willing to help you!
What is your favorite Gustavus tradition?
I enjoy Christmas in Christ Chapel- and think that O Come All Ye Faithful will forever hold a special place in my heart!!
