Why did you choose Gustavus?
My search for college didn’t come easy, I had three schools that fit my criteria; Winona State, University of Wisconsin River Falls and Gustavus Adolphus College. I chose Gustavus because of their prestige academics, Gustavus football and its sense of community. I believe that I made the right choice to come to Gustavus and never looked back.
Life at Gustavus
Life at Gustavus has treated me very well; I am involved in a student group, intramural sports, football, and other activities. This is my third year playing for the Gustavus football team and I am honored to earn a varsity letter all three years. I am involved in a student organization group called PASO (Pan African Student Organization) and currently I am one of the Co- Presidents. On my spare time, I am involved in many intramural sports such as basketball, hockey, softball and other fun sports. Life at Gustavus couldn’t be better and hope other could share my experience.
What has been your favorite academic experience?
My favorite class at Gustavus has to be Organizational Behavior, which is taught by Kathy Tunheim. I believe that a professor can make or break a class. I learned a lot from her class and will carry some of the important points with me forever. Organization Behavior has helped me learn and improve some skills. I will take the SWOT analysis with me in any business project. My public speaking has improved as well. I recommend that students should take Organization Behavior with Kathy Tunheim.
What is your favorite food in the Market Place?
My favorite food in the Market Place has to be the fried chicken with French fries. I like to season the fries with different spices next to the salad bar; it gives it a great taste.
How do you interact with your professors outside the classroom?
The best way to interact with professor outside of the classroom is through email and visiting them at their office hours.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to travel abroad for a business. I believe Gustavus is preparing me for my dream job. Interning in Admissions has made my dream job more realistic.
What advice would you give a prospective Gustie?
The best advice to give is to visit our beautiful campus and get a realistic tour with current students. Students should have an overnight visit as well. I chose Gustavus because I felt I made a connection with the students.
What is your favorite Gustavus tradition?
Athletic events are my favorite school tradition. The atmosphere during a homecoming football game is amazing. As a football player I appreciate the support from our Gustavus community.
