Life before Gustavus
I like to keep my life diverse - in High School I threw javelin for the track team, played the bassoon, competed in Math League, earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was involved in many youth groups.
Why did you choose Gustavus?
I loved the community feeling when I stepped on campus, I just felt at home here.
Life at Gustavus
Currently I spend my time working on analyzing wind data for the Physics Department that will be used to help with the process of getting a wind turbine on campus as well as CFing and working for Media Services. I really enjoy helping people with the talents I have been gifted with or the knowledge I have gained.
What has been your favorite academic experience?
Last year the Physics Department took a field trip to the particle accelerator at Fermi Lab in Chicago. Seeing the things that are being done in modern physics today on such a massive scale was really cool.
What is your favorite food in the Market Place?
My favorite Market Place dish is Chicken Cordon Blu with rice! My favorite food overall is BBQ ribs cooked on a charcoal grill. Mmmm.
How do you interact with your professors outside the classroom?
I often talk to professors while I am working on things in the physics student office. I have been to a couple of my professors houses whose sons are students here at Gustavus that I know.
What is your dream job?
Applying my knowledge to the field of alternative energy, most likely wind energy.
What advice would you give a prospective Gustie?
Make a list of 10 schools you think would fit you and then spend a night on each of their campuses. Getting to know the community of a school will aid greatly in making a decision.
What is your favorite Gustavus tradition?
The Gustie Greeters that cheer on the Freshmen on move in day. What a welcome!
