Life before Gustavus
My main interest was, and still is, music. I was in band and choir, and a section leader during marching band season. I was in National Honors Society and National Music Honor Society (Tri-M).
Why did you choose Gustavus?
Mostly because of the good music program, and the people seemed really nice when I visited.
Life at Gustavus
I'm very involved with my applied voice lessons, and I love the music program here. I'm in Vasa Wind Orchestra, the Gustavus Choir, and the handbells choir. I also attend Queers & Allies as often as possible.
What has been your favorite academic experience?
I've learned so much from all of the music faculty in my time at Gustavus. I love seeing all my professors around the music building or around campus and appreciate the fact that even though I'm no longer in class with them, they still take time to say hello or chat with me a little.
What is your favorite food in the Market Place?
It's a tie between taco salad and burritos.
How do you interact with your professors outside the classroom?
I'll wave or say "Hello" in passing, or sometimes just sit and chat for a while about future careers or just random thoughts that aren't necessarily music-related.
What is your dream job?
Teaching kids about the joy of music and how beautiful it can be.
What is your favorite Gustavus tradition?
Christmas in Christ Chapel is simply amazing, and has been my favorite favorite Gustie tradition that, fortunately, I've gotten to be a part of through music.
