Life before Gustavus
I played soccer, golf, and CC skied. I was in a diversity group on campus, a women's group, and band. I loved to hang out with friends, go shopping, go out to dinner, see a movie, or just hang out and talk. I turned 18 the summer before I started college, and that in itself was kind of my celebration of "freedom"/going off to college.
Why did you choose Gustavus?
I was looking for a smaller, liberal arts college with a wide variety of classes and extra-curricular activities.
Life at Gustavus
Concentrating on classes, participating in APM, Building Bridges, and giving my mind a break by hanging with my friends.
What has been your favorite academic experience?
Trying to adjust to the different style of learning in college, especially biology.
What is your favorite food in the Market Place?
Omelets!
How do you interact with your professors outside the classroom?
Office hours, and one-on-one meetings. Its fun to get to know professors outside of class, they have a lot of interesting things to share.
What is your dream job?
Doctor's without Boarders, and just for fun, a traveling food critic!
What advice would you give a prospective Gustie?
Do what feels right. Look at the pro's and con's for each school, try and narrow down your choices.
What is your favorite Gustavus tradition?
Midnight Express during finals, Building Bridges Conference, and the Nobel Conference.
