- Q: What courses are typical for a first-year student? How big will the classes be?
- A: All first-year students are required to take a First Term Seminar, which is a class made up of about 16 first-year students that engage in critical thinking. FTS students also become familiar with the college resources available to them on campus and they also learn about writing at the college level. First-year students often take many courses in general education area, exploring different potential majors and interest areas. The average class size at Gustavus is 15 students.
